Some almost formed thoughts on the eBook/eAudio experience, using Jane Austen as the subject...

- Searching through the catalog vs. netLibrary makes a big difference. I found the catalog far more accessible. I was impressed with the solid mix of criticism and the actual novels.
- Found getting to the actual item a little more confusing. My first instinct is to request the item, not go to the link to access it via the database.
- Navigating netLibrary is pretty easy. I think the dictionary feature is especially nice.

I don't see using this much myself (I'd rather have the book in my hands), but I can understand why patrons find it useful.

RSS feeds... LOVE them. I can't remember when I started using Google Reader, but it's made life so much easier since then.

I checked this morning and I am up to 134 subscriptions (is there a support group for this?). But I've got everything from knitting and hockey blogs to celeb twitter accounts (fun fact: you can follow public twitter accounts from your RSS reader without actually joining twitter!), webcomics to the latest entertainment news.

Del.icio.us and social bookmarking, I am less familiar with. I can certainly see the benefits of it, though, especially in the library environment. If easy access to information is our bread and butter, then Del.icio.us is a waiter bringing you more of those wonderful breadsticks at the Olive Garden. Or something like that, haha. Anyway, the username over there is jessb83.

Well, I wasn't intimidated by the 23 Things project until I had to figure out what to write here, haha.

But on the whole, so far so easy. I really like how interactive this is shaping up to be and the overall potential for connecting with folks from other libraries. Plus, I've been looking for an excuse to play around with blogger after a few years with livejournal. :)
